Include TRNC Insights on COVID-19 to The WHO Official Statistics
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Ozersay has sent a letter to the World Health Organization (WHO) claiming that TRNC became a country where no new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the last 22 days.
Ozersay presented a short summary to the WHO where he shared information on the fight against COVID-19 which started in North Cyprus on the 10th of March, 2020. He informed that as of May 8, there were 108 cases registered, and four people died, while all the pending cases of the infected with COVID-19 had already been closed and recovered people had been discharged. He added that starting from the 4th of May, 2020 the government began to gradually facilitate the measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus. Ozersay wrote the following:
“I encourage the WHO, whose goal is to serve the wellbeing interests of all humanity, to acknowledge this noteworthy achievement of the unrecognized TRNC against COVID-19, without segregation based on political interests on such a health problem. I request the insights and statistics of the Turkish Cypriots to be inserted to the official information of the WHO.”
